In this lesson you will learn about The Ideal Gas Law as well as the various types of problems involving the Ideal Gas Law.
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- describe the four quantities that describe any gas behaving as an ideal gas;
- demonstrate how the Ideal Gas Law is derived by combining three gas laws: Boyle’s, Charles’s and Avogadro’s;
- define the Ideal Gas Law in words and using a mathematical equation;
- define the Ideal Gas Law Constant, R, and state its values depending on the units of pressure used;
- calculate the volume of a gas using the ideal gas law;
- calculate the temperature of a gas using the ideal gas law;
- determine the molecular formula of a gas using percentage compsitions and the ideal gas law;
- find the density of a gas using the ideal gas law.
To begin, watch the video lesson below on the derivation of the Ideal Gas Law. Please write detailed notes.
Below is the second half of this lesson on the various types of Ideal Gas Law problems. Watch it closely and pay close attention to the problem solving strategies.
Below is a Study-note on the Ideal Gas Law. Download it, print it out and use it to review what you learned in the video lessons above as well as to prepare for a quiz or test.
