In this laboratory you will conduct three titrations using a acid-base pH titration simulator.
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to
- describe the equipment and materials required for a titration.
- determine the concentration of an acetic acid solution (unknown) using titration
- determine the concentration of a hypothetical weak acid solution using a weak acid- strong base titration.
- determine the pKa of a weak acid solution using a weak acid-strong base titration, graphical analysis and the relationship between pH and pKa at the half-way point of a titration.
Below is a short tutorial on the use of the acid-base pH simulator. Please watch it prior to conducting the experiment.
Below is the Laboratory hand out. Please print it out. Next record your observations and data for the three titrations and answer all extension questions. Upon completing your report, scan your lab report, then upload it or send it to us via e-mail.
All the best and have fun conducting these cool titration simulations.
